On the day I started, the staff that were meant to help me and the other people who also started on that day but they were very disappointing. They paid us no attention and ‘dumped’ us at a chair with a script we had to follow. Depending on the campaign, we had to call people both from business and public areas and offer them emails, catalogues ext.
The thing was, we weren’t given any additional information on what it was we were trying to sell. This made it very humiliating when people asked questions you couldn’t answer, it was extremely unprofessional and after being made to feel so idiotic from day to day I started to see an obvious confidence knock back. Additionally to this, I didn’t come across one other employee who enjoyed working there and after being there a few weeks I really started to loathe it.
This turned out to be a personal career nightmare and I needed to find another position somewhere else. Bit of advice, don’t get too dis-heartened if you start a new job and it doesn’t turn out to be what you thought. This happens to pretty much everyone and sooner or later you will find a job you enjoy.
